DRUNK ON YOU New Release Review

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00005]It was supposed to be fun.

A mutual use of each other’s bodies.

To be a ruse to the world around us.

I wanted to be free from my ex, and he wanted to escape his.

One drunken night turned a joke into a life-changing moment.

He warned me not to fall for him, and I should’ve listened.

He intoxicated me.

He made me crave him.

He ruined me.

In the end, I’ll never be the same.

Dear Lord, Shane Kingston is serious sex on a stick and gave Nate a run for the title of my favorite Hope Town man! When he and Nikki get together, it may start out as a fake relationship but it quickly morphs to something real- and holy freaking hotness ensues!

Both Nikki and Shane have exes that are stage 5 clingers and stalkers to boot. They each broke it off with Seth and Lacey over a year ago, but neither one takes the hint and both seem determined to worm their way back into Nikki and Shane’s lives. After a seriously sexy encounter during one of Shane’s dances at Dirty Dog, Nikki drums up the liquid courage to propose a solution to him: they enter into a fake relationship that looks real to the rest of the world so they can finally scrape off the unwanted attention of their exes, and they enjoy a friendship with a lot of benefits for as long as it lasts.

Shane has wanted Nikki for years, but they were both with other people so he simply watched from a distance. Now that they are both free, he is definitely not opposed to a little fun and getting to know each other better- as long as she is not looking for the white picket fence as an end game. He loves that she is intelligent, loyal and fun loving but he is not looking for long term commitment. When they give in to the blatant chemistry that sparks between them immediately, he is stunned to realize that she instinctively seems to be his perfect match from his need for dominance and control behind closed doors to finding ways to make him laugh with her quirky sense of humor and sass everywhere else.

It doesn’t take long for Shane to realize that long term may not be such a bad thing and there is absolutely nothing fake about what he is feeling. When Nikki has a really bad day and calls Ember and Nate for help before him, it is the wake up call he needs to really switch gears. And when Shane decides to go all in making Nikki his sole focus with the intent to win her over permanently, oh my oh my the man has game! Nikki doesn’t stand a chance- not that she wants to.

I absolutely loved this book and I read it from start to finish in one sitting in just under a few hours. I was halfway through the story before I even realized it, and I had to fan myself more than a few times. Shane starts off as a bit of a jerk but the reason for his closed off attitude soon becomes apparent. They still have to navigate the land mines of their exes and Shane’s concern over Nikki’s long term acceptance of his job when he decides to cut loose and dance, but all in all Drunk on You was so very worth the wait!
