An ARe Alphas Release!

When love’s on the line, the brave jump in with both feet…

Small town cop Clint Rivera can’t catch a break. His ex of two weeks is suddenly getting married, his dogs tore up his furniture, he’s getting evicted, and he’s out of beer. When he decides to solve his alcohol shortage by going to his ex’s engagement party, Clint winds up too drunk to drive himself home.

Enter gorgeous deputy mayor Hawk Black, the man who constantly shows up unexpectedly and sends Clint’s body and mind into a tailspin with nothing but his whiskey voice and blue eyes. After months of patience, Hawk can finally seduce the man he’s been craving.

Clint’s day might not have started out well, but Hawk’s going to make sure it ends with a bang, preferably in bed. He’ll show Clint some rewards are worth the risk. With love on the line, Clint will need to decide if he can open his heart, tear down his shields, and jump in with both feet.

If you ever feel like you are having a REALLY crappy day and life is kicking you in the teeth, take Clint’s day from hell in this story for a spin- it may help ease your pain. Clint just took two weeks of vacation time to escape to the quiet of a campsite with his two rescue dogs after parting ways with his lover. It can’t really be described as a breakup because said ex-lover wasn’t comfortable coming out to the town and only saw Clint behind closed doors until Clint finally had enough of being the dirty little secret and ended things.

Now he is back in town to find his ex is already engaged to the daughter of an influential town resident and the engagement party is that evening. Clearly his ex was playing the part of loving boyfriend with a woman the whole time they were together. And the hits just keep on coming after that until Clint finds himself at the party trying to get drunk. The only problem is the bar is not serving his drink of choice (beer) as it doesn’t carry the desired level of sophistication for the event- so he starts rapidly throwing back champagne flutes in his dirty jeans and torn up boots until a buzz starts kicking in. Enter deputy mayor Hawk Black to the rescue! This is a man on a mission and Clint is the target he has in mind.

At just under 60 pages, this is a really short read. As such, it feels as though insta-love abounds and there really isn’t any time to connect with the characters or see any development of their relationship. We know both men have been discreetly eyeing each other for months but that’s pretty much it and it is game on from there. Frankly Hawk creeped me out a little bit when he started revealing his feelings and how he came to live in Hawthorne. There were some funny scenes as well, and there were a few moments where I had to suppress a snort or two like when drunk Clint is sitting in Hawk’s house and they start discussing the sizes of their cocks- good grief, such typical men!

Fortunately the author was able to convey some pretty sizzling chemistry between them so I could overlook the occasional cheesy line and eye roll inducing moment- and Cardeno C can definitely write some hot scenes! If you are looking for an in depth emotional journey, this is not the book for you. But if you are looking for a quick, fun read for a bit of escapist fun, then Jumping In will work just fine for you.

Cardeno C. – CC to friends – is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few “awwws” into a reader’s day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno’s stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.
