the-play-mate-kendall-ryanSmith Hamilton has it all—he’s smart, good-looking and loaded. But he remembers a time when he had nothing and no one, so he’s not about to mess up, especially with his best friend’s little sister. That means keeping Evie at arm’s length … even though the once pesky little girl is now a buxom bombshell. A sexy blonde who pushes his self-control to the limit the night she crawls into bed with him.

Evie Reed knows she’s blessed—with an exclusive education, a family who loves her, and a new job managing social media for her family’s lingerie company. But she wants more, like a reason to wear the sexy lingerie herself. She has just the man in mind to help with that. She’s crushed on Smith forever. Surely tricking her way into his bed will force him to see her in a new, adult way.

Except that when Evie’s plan leads to disaster, she and Smith must decide—ignore the attraction sizzling between them, or become play mates and risk it all.

I loved Smith and Evie! The Play Mate is a great mix of friends to lovers with a little bit of forbidden romance due to the brother’s best friend aspect- then throw in a great slow burn with lots of UST before the big payoff too!

There is a 7 year age difference between Evie and Smith, but there was always a feeling that these two were meant to be together. Even when she was just Cullen’s annoying little sister who loved to follow the two of them everywhere, Smith always cared about Evie’s feelings and went out of his way to protect her. Of course the bro code meant that she would be off limits to him, but he has to remind his body of that fact all too often now that 22 year old Evie has set her mind to making him notice her as a woman.

Evie has loved Smith for longer than she would like to admit, and after a lackluster experience with a guy, she decides she wants a do-over of what she expected from her first time- and Smith should be just the man to help her out with that! Of the two of them, Smith has always been the risk taker while Evie was a bit more cautious, but she decides it is time to finally go after what she wants and there is no time like the present to take a leap of faith. When Smith arrives in Paris to meet with her brother to discuss business plans, Evie decides the City of Love should be the perfect backdrop to her seduction efforts. Unfortunately her best laid plans don’t exactly work out as she had hoped, and to make matters worse, she now has to sit side by side with both her brother and Smith on a daily basis!

Once they get past some initial awkward moments and stumbles around each other, neither one can deny that things just feel right when they are together despite the fact they are doing nothing more than talking and having a little fun. Unfortunately Cullen still sees Evie as a little girl to be protected and he will lose his ever-loving mind if Smith makes a move on her. Smith is torn between his loyalty to loyalty to his best friend and desire for the woman who has haunted his dreams for years, and as much as Evie wants Smith, the last thing she wants is to destroy his relationship with her brother. They definitely have a few “we need to work on our communication” moments, but when they get it right, some fun, hot and sexy moments ensue!

The Play Mate was a quick but very enjoyable read, so don’t hesitate to go grab yourself a copy and enjoy the ride!
